Accountability: Prays and Warship

To grow as a christian, one must be discipled and held accountable. Seeking my own development as well as the opportunity to benefit others, I started a small group men's ministry.

Initially Dennis McFarland (center) and I (left) met weekly to share prayer concerns, study God's Word, and hold each other accountable to what God was calling us to do. Later, Larry Dunn (right) joined the group. The group quickly took up arms against Satan.

The group engaged in spiritual warfare by using the main weapons of the Word of God and prayer and the team members won many victories in the Lord. Swords were provided by Brother Dennis one Christmas. Picture was taken June 1998.

Dennis has moved on to another church on his side of town and has begun his pastoral training. We still stay in touch. Larry also moved and (feel sorry for him) is serving as a youth pastor in the sunshine state. (I hope you don't have too much fun in the sun, Larry!)

Since that time, John Yohman, Chris Kauffman and David Armeni have been part of the fellowship. The Scripture is right! There is nothing like true fellowship!

 Promise Keepers

The accountability group really grew out of a desire to serve God by committing to the seven promises of a promise keeper. While some think this is an anti-woman group, it is really just a group of men who feel a need to restore the Bible as the main foundation of daily living. It is not a "para-church movement aimed at destroying the church and it unity" as some misinformed people claim.

My good friend Bob Aspel and I encouraged men at our church to attend the conferences and to make a stronger commitment to God by becoming more accountable.

After three regular conferences, I attended the Stand in the Gap meeting in Washington DC to pray for our nation. It was an incredible time.

 International Friendships

Crisha and I are also involved in outreach to our international friends through the International Friendships ministry. Students from around the world (literally!) come to meet, fellowship and learn about God and how he works in our lives.

This has been a great outreach. We have seen several people come to know Jesus in the one year alone!

IFI does airport pickup, temporary housing and conversation partnering for students. This has been a great way for us to meet many new and interesting people and to co-labor with our dear friends Chris Kauffman, David Armeni, and Bob Aspel.

 Trinity Wesleyan/Creekside Community Church

Crisha and I attended Trinity Wesleyan Church (which became Creekside Community Church three years ago) for about seven years. We were actively involved at the church. Crisha served as the church secretary and the Care Outreach Coordinator as well as taught Sunday School classes and lead discipleship Bible studies.

I served on the Board as the secretary, lead men's groups, served on committees, and taught Sunday School classes and lead discipleship Bible studies as well.

During our time there, we witnessed God move in many ways. From the miraculous purchase of a new property and the leasing of the old, to the name change and change in format to go seeker-sensitive, the Lord really blessed the church.

My spiritual brother John Yohman and I even got to design and build two sand volleyball pits as part of the Shepherd's Field park and playground the church is building for the community.

Since then Creekside relocated and the Lord led us to another church.
